Alice almost blew it just before they married by taking drugs. “The day before we got married, we did a show … I drank a bottle of tequila, threw up, stopped drinking, then did some lines of coke, left for Arizona, threw up, and then took a nap before the wedding,” recalls Cooper. Even though he wasn’t in the habit of saying sweet nothings, he knew he loved Sheryl and had no regrets. “I’m so lucky to have Sheryl,” he told The Freemans.
The couple don’t have any children but they’re fine with that. They consider their show, with its theatrics and music like “Poison” and “I’m Eighteen,” to be their baby. They’re still together, even though Sheryl admitted she briefly broke up with Alice within their first year of marriage. “He was a real pain,” she told Australia’s Monthly Women’s Magazine. Luckily for rock and roll, they managed to get past that first rocky patch and have stuck it out for over 50 years.
