Dublin Band Bleech Shares New Single and Announces Debut EP Plans
Dublin-based band Bleech 9:3 has recently revealed exciting news about their upcoming debut EP, scheduled for release on May 15th through Polydor Records. They have also shared a new single titled “Underrated,” which had its premiere on BBC Radio 1 with Jack Saunders.
In addition to their EP release, Bleech 9:3 has an extensive lineup of live performances lined up, including a sold-out show at Scala in London on May 16th, as well as appearances at various festivals like The Great Escape, Latitude, and Reading & Leeds. The band will also join Keo, Wunderhorse, and Nick Cave on European tour dates.
The duo behind Bleech 9:3, Baz Quinlan (vocals/guitar) and Sam Duffy (guitar), first crossed paths during their recovery journey at a rehab program. Despite their tumultuous pasts, they bonded over their shared experiences and dreams, which laid the foundation for their musical collaboration. Their early singles have garnered praise from notable publications like The Guardian, NME, and Kerrang!, in addition to strong support from BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6Music.
Discussing the inspiration behind their latest single, “Underrated,” Baz explains, “I wrote it at the end of 2024, it was one of the first Bleech songs that we jammed back then. Bad worship is a theme that runs through the EP. I felt driven to write about how it twists love into something else. How the twisting becomes the thing that you end up wanting.” The accompanying music video for “Underrated” captures the band’s distinctive aesthetic and complements the track’s intense energy.
When Barry Quinlan and Sam Duffy first connected in their early twenties, it felt like a serendipitous meeting, given their intertwined lives of addiction and recovery. During their formative years as musicians in Dublin, they navigated the chaos of addiction until they eventually found solace in each other during their shared journey towards sobriety. Their friendship blossomed, leading to the creation of Bleech 9:3, a project that gave them direction and purpose during a challenging period in their lives.
