Voivod to release live album ‘Symphonique’ with Quebec Symphony, including Pink Floyd cover

Voivod is set to release a unique live album titled “Symphonique” on June 5 through Century Media Records. Unlike traditional concert recordings, this album captures the band collaborating with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra on 12 tracks spanning 73 minutes of music.

Recorded at the Grand Theatre in Quebec City on June 4, 2025, composer Hugo Begin arranged the pieces, blending the raw power of metal with the grandeur of an orchestral performance. Drummer and founding member Michel “Away” Langevin expressed his excitement about this project, calling it a longtime dream come true. Voivod will have the opportunity to relive this experience in 2027 with the Orchestre symphonique du Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean, bringing the show to the region where the band originated in 1983.

Having been active since 1983, Voivod earned critical acclaim in 2023 when they received a Juno Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Album following the release of “Synchro Anarchy” in 2022. The album reached No. 7 on the German charts and made an impact in Switzerland, Austria, and the Netherlands as well. The band has upcoming performances scheduled in Europe and the UK in June, followed by a show at the Municipale Palace Theatre in Chicoutimi on Jan. 30, 2027, alongside the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Symphony Orchestra.

Michel “Away” Langevin has expressed his desire to take this unique performance around the world, collaborating with local orchestras in different regions. “Symphonique” will be available in various formats, including CD, a gatefold 2LP on black, yellow, or orange vinyl, and as a digital download. Tickets for the 2027 Chicoutimi show are currently on sale for fans eager to witness this one-of-a-kind performance.
