Excited for “JAM!” at Funival: Between Friends set to perform

American musical duo Between Friends is scheduled to perform at Funival on May 8 at the College Union Board’s annual celebratory event. The event will kick off at 5:45 p.m. at Sundial Lawn, showcasing the talents of siblings Brandon and Savannah Hudson, known for their alternative/indie music style.

Between Friends gained initial recognition after appearing on America’s Got Talent in 2013, transitioning into forming their duo in 2017. With a unique music style that explores themes of young love and heartbreak, the pair has released a considerable discography comprising of seven EPs, two albums, and a mixtape. Their latest album, “WOW!,” released in August 2025, features popular tracks like “JAM!” and “You & Me Time.”

Growing up in Miami, Florida, and later in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles, Brandon and Savannah found an early interest in music and nurtured their passion through experimentation with sounds. Drawing inspiration from various genres, they developed a signature blend of smooth and catchy electronic soundscapes, setting them apart as refreshingly distinct in the music industry.

Funival, an annual event hosted by the College Union Board, has been historically associated with indie-rock and indie-pop genres, featuring renowned artists like fun. and other rising talents. The event has gained popularity for its diverse lineup and immersive musical experiences. This year will see new additions to the event’s performance lineup, with student DJs Carlo Nasso and Claire Sorensen opening for Between Friends.

Usually, a student band warms up the stage at Funival, but this year will feature exciting DJ sets by Nasso and Sorensen, who secured their spot through a DJ contest during the March CUB Classics event. This year’s Funival aims to diversify its musical offerings and embrace fresh talent in line with its long-standing tradition of supporting up-and-coming artists in the music industry.

Expected to draw a crowd of around 3,500 attendees, Funival promises a dynamic atmosphere with live performances, games, rides, a silent disco, and a variety of food trucks. The event, encompassing LOT 12 and Sundial Lawn, will run from 4 to 10 p.m., offering attendees a memorable experience to celebrate the end of the academic year while enjoying a diverse range of entertainment options.

For graduating seniors, this year’s Funival marks a significant occasion as it serves as their final event before commencement. With an exhilarating lineup of talented artists and a vibrant carnival-like setting, Funival at the College promises a night of music, entertainment, and festivity for all attendees to enjoy.
