The Hip Snacks, a rock-n-soul band hailing from Denver, Colorado, is making waves with their new album, “Out On A Limb.” Lead singer Kara Durante expressed excitement about the upcoming release, highlighting the band’s journey and growth. Recorded by Steve Avedis at Colorado Sounds Studios, this 10-song LP follows their 2024 debut album, “What Lies Ahead.”
Durante shared her enthusiasm for the new album, mentioning that working with Avedis allowed them more space to experiment and feel confident in the studio. The band’s origin story traces back to Maryland, where Durante and her husband, Ben Suarez, lived before heading to Colorado. Durante’s powerful vocals drew her to the microphone, setting the stage for their musical venture.
In 2022, Durante and Suarez relocated to Denver, envisioning a fresh start and a new band. Immersed in the city’s vibrant music scene, they frequented open mic nights and other musical gatherings, eventually connecting with guitarist Felipe Cantuaria and drummer Dylan French. Guitarist Ricky Feria and keyboardist Adam Schini joined the group shortly after, solidifying The Hip Snacks’ lineup.
The band’s formation culminated in their first performance in May 2023, marking the beginning of a musical journey influenced by Denver’s rich artistic environment. Suarez reflected on the city’s supportive and inclusive music scene, emphasizing the community’s vast talent pool and inspirational atmosphere. The collaborative spirit within Denver’s live music scene propelled The Hip Snacks forward, shaping their diverse sound.
