Sam Morrow has released a new single, “Lucretia,” as he announces his upcoming album, Southern Boogie, set to be released on June 12, 2026, through Copaco/Blue Élan Records. Known for his unique blend of country funk and roadhouse blues, Morrow is taking a bold step forward with this new album, moving away from his previous Americana style and embracing a grittier, raw sound that is deeply rooted in Texas.

After going through significant personal changes and relocating across the country, Morrow has found a renewed sense of purpose and confidence in his music. His earlier albums, Concrete & Mud, Gettin’ By On Gettin’ Down, and On the Ride Here, received high praise from various outlets such as Rolling Stone, NPR’s World Café, and Americana radio for their genre-blurring approach. With Southern Boogie, Morrow dives deeper into his Texas roots, delivering a guitar-forward sound that captures the essence of his musical evolution.

Recorded mostly live in Austin with producer Jonathan Tyler, Southern Boogie takes on a stripped-down, analog approach, focusing on the raw power of the music without any unnecessary embellishments. The album features two guitars, bass, keys, drums, tube amps, and no click track, creating a sound that is authentic and unfiltered.

Morrow explains the recording process, stating, “Jonathan got it before I even explained it. We just wanted it to sound gritty and raw. Like a band in a room, because that’s what it is.” The result is nine tracks of straight-ahead southern rock that exude grit, groove, and heart. Songs like “Cruisin'” embody the freedom of moving forward, while tracks like “South Texas Women” and “Wedding Ring” reflect the optimism of reconnecting with a long-lost love.

“Lucretia,” the latest single from the album, captures the feeling of breaking free from stagnation and moving forward with confidence. With biting guitar tones and a propulsive groove, the song embodies the spirit of liberation and change.

Morrow’s previous album, On the Ride Here, was praised for its forward-thinking approach and solidified his status as a genre-blending artist. With Southern Boogie, he is not looking back but rather embracing the future with louder amps and a bolder sound that is true to himself.

As Morrow gears up for the release of Southern Boogie, he is also preparing to hit the road for a series of live performances across the country and overseas. The album launch will be followed by a string of shows in various cities, giving fans the opportunity to experience Morrow’s new sound in person. As he embarks on this next chapter of his musical journey, Morrow is poised to make a lasting impact on the rock music scene.
