Mysterious noise-rock band Vorhex Angel releases “Okie’s Song I” from upcoming album
The roots of “Okie’s Song I” date back before the band came together. Silver Synthetic’s Kunal Prakash revealed, “I had this set of chords for a while and played around with different interpretations, but I never performed it live or recorded it.” Prakash, together with brothers Jake and Jamin Orrall of JEFF the Brotherhood, make up the band. He always had a feeling that the ideal way to showcase the song would be with Jake and Jamin when the timing felt right.
Describing it as “the most structured of the tracks on DRAIN,” Jake Orrall emphasized, “The lyrics delve into the frustration of being stuck in a negative cycle, a loop. I still remember the chills I got while listening to Kunal’s solo during playback.” DRAIN marks a departure from the band’s earlier, more raw material, which drew comparisons to the Japanese psychedelic group, High Rise. The double album consists of seven songs that transition from day to night through captivating guitar solos and immersive drone segments.
Vorhex Angel will commemorate the album’s physical release on June 13th at The Antique Barn in New Jersey, followed by a tour across the northeast with pedal steel virtuoso, Luke Schneider, starting in mid-July. Be sure to check out their latest music video for a taste of what’s to come.
