Cancer Bats set to drop new album “Give Me Dirt” in August 7, 2026
Canadian heavy metal band Cancer Bats has revealed that they are set to release their upcoming studio album, “Give Me Dirt”, on August 7th, 2026. The band has partnered with Marshall Records for this highly anticipated release.
Expressing their enthusiasm for this collaboration, Cancer Bats stated, “We are thrilled to be a part of the Marshall Records family! From the iconic amps that have shaped the sound of our favorite bands to their unwavering support of independent venues and their overall punk rock ethos, we believe that this partnership is a perfect fit for Cancer Bats. We look forward to working with them on this new album and many more in the future!”
Steve Tannett, the Director of Music Platforms at Marshall Records, shared his excitement as well, saying, “We are over the moon to welcome the legendary Cancer Bats to the Marshall Records roster as we celebrate our 10th year, coinciding with the band’s 20th year. The upcoming album ‘Give Me Dirt’ showcases a band built on solid rock foundations, and we are excited for a fantastic release and numerous incredible shows.”
Ahead of the album’s launch, Cancer Bats have released a new single titled “Stay Stuck”, accompanied by a music video. Lead vocalist Liam Cormier described the track as a fun and invigorating song that captures the classic, energetic essence of Cancer Bats. The lyrics delve into moments in life where one realizes the need for a change and the determination to seize opportunities and chase dreams.
The music video for “Stay Stuck”, directed by Mitch Barnes, portrays the band members in various day jobs reminiscent of their pre-music careers. Despite the routine and challenges of these jobs, the band wanted to highlight the optimism and focus they maintained on their aspirations throughout those times.
As a continuation of their critically acclaimed album “Psychic Jailbreak” from 2022, “Give Me Dirt” showcases Cancer Bats’ evolution in sound and artistic expression. Produced by renowned metal producer Kurt Ballou and Zach Weeks, the album was recorded at God City Studios and Camera Varda Studios, resulting in a sonically powerful and inspiring collection of songs.
Drawing inspiration from nature, personal experiences, and reflections on environmental issues, “Give Me Dirt” takes listeners on a journey of introspection and reconnecting with the world around them. Motorcycle travels through rugged terrains and transformative experiences have all influenced the album’s perspective, adding depth and authenticity to their music.
The artwork for “Give Me Dirt” reflects Cancer Bats’ raw and authentic aesthetic, created through tactile mixed-media painting techniques by Cormier himself. The physicality and imperfections of the artwork aim to capture the energy and essence of the album and the band’s identity.
With an eclectic tracklist featuring collaborations with musical talents like Nate Newton, Chris Creswell, Brooklyn Doran, and Efrem Schulz, “Give Me Dirt” promises to deliver a diverse and captivating musical experience. Fans can pre-order and pre-save the album to be among the first to experience Cancer Bats’ latest installment in their impressive musical journey.
