Band announces new album and premieres two singles after turnover return

Turnover has unveiled their highly anticipated upcoming album, Down On Earth, set for release on May 29, featuring two new singles – “Nightjar” and “I See You and Realize.”

This album marks Turnover’s first release since 2022’s Myself In The Way, signaling a new chapter for the band as they venture into independent territory and rediscover the raw energy that initially defined their sound. Produced by Zac Montez, their longtime front-of-house engineer, Down On Earth captures the electric atmosphere of their live performances for the first time.

Both new singles, “Nightjar” and “I See You and Realize,” showcase Turnover’s evolution through dream-pop, alternative rock, and new wave influences, while preserving the emotional resonance that sets them apart in the indie scene. “Nightjar” comes with a visually captivating music video directed by Ben Turok, highlighting the band’s roots in Virginia Beach.

The album, crafted through collaborative jam sessions and spontaneous studio experimentation, prioritizes artistic freedom over perfection. Turnover allows the songs to organically evolve, resulting in a record that fuses the urgency of their punk origins with the ethereal psychedelia found in their later work.

Thematically, Down On Earth delves into topics of love, death, loneliness, and the afterlife, offering a reflective exploration of the band’s journey since their last release. The album’s artwork, photographed by Nick Waplington, mirrors a timeless and dreamy ambiance that complements the music.

The album announcement comes on the heels of Turnover’s extensive Peripheral Vision 10th-anniversary tour in 2025, where they played some of the largest shows of their career. It seems that this milestone tour has reignited the band’s creativity and direction, paving the way for the release of Down On Earth on May 29, 2026.
