Bastards of Fine Arts to perform at Studio concerts on June 5th
Concerts in the Studio will be hosting the Bastards of Fine Arts on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 7:30pm. This band is composed of Matt Keating, Jason Mercer, Steve Mayone, and Greg Wieczorek. Described as a new band with deep roots, the musicians bring a wealth of experience and talent to the table.
Matt Keating and Steve Mayone have both been established singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists for many years, each with a successful solo career spanning over two decades. Keating, who has released an impressive 11 albums, is praised by NPR as “one of America’s great under the radar songwriters,” known for his witty and incisive tunes. On the other hand, Mayone, with 5 albums under his belt, is acclaimed by Americana UK as a “master songsmith” for his eloquently crafted stories.
The collaboration between Keating and Mayone dates back to 2016 when they began a fruitful songwriting partnership. They launched the online music series, NEW SONG FORWARD FRIDAY, where they released a new song each week on social media. Joining forces with Jason Mercer on bass and Greg Wieczorek on drums, the band has been actively performing in NYC and the Northeast, holding a monthly residency at the 11th St. Bar in the East Village.
