Swiss post-rock band Hubris announces release of new album ‘White Shores’

With its five distinct movements, “White Shores” also provides a reflection of Dr. Kübler-Ross’s theory on the five stages of grief: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance. Jonathan explains his initial hesitation in naming a track “Death” due to the grim connotations, but recognizes that the album is ultimately about offering a different perspective on mortality and loss.

The first single from the album, titled “Is,” is a testament to the band’s creative process. Jonathan reveals that the idea for the song originated from experimenting with a reverse delay pedal, resulting in a unique and soothing sound that forms the backbone of the track. Despite initial intentions to keep it as an interlude, the band managed to expand on the concept and create a dynamic piece that evolves from a tranquil introduction to a powerful climax, embodying the essence of post-rock music.

The recording process for “White Shores” was a collaborative effort among the band members, with Jonathan composing the initial pieces in his home studio before working together to arrange and refine the music. After an extensive demo phase, the band returned to La Fonderie Studio in Fribourg, Switzerland, where they recorded the album over the course of a week. The final mixing and mastering were done by Peter Miles and former hubris. drummer Nathan Gros, respectively.
