Family installs security cameras at York County home following shooting that led to teen’s murder
The tragic death of a teenage girl in York County has left her family devastated and prompted them to take immediate action to enhance their home security. Camariya Tidwell, a 19-year-old girl, was shot and killed at her family’s residence on Mount Gallant Road near the U.S. 21 Bypass in Rock Hill. This horrifying incident occurred on May 16th, and it followed a shooting that took place just days before the fatal attack.
According to relatives, the family’s house was also targeted by gunfire on Tuesday, May 12th, only a few days before Camariya was killed. The terrifying experience of having their home shot at compelled the family to install security cameras. The newly installed cameras captured disturbing footage of a man, later identified as 34-year-old Sean Hubbard, firing a shotgun at the house shortly before Camariya’s tragic death.
Law enforcement officials were quickly alerted to the situation and began searching for the suspect. They identified Hubbard as a person of interest and proceeded to check his last known address. Tragically, the efforts of the police were not enough to prevent the devastating outcome.
On the night of the fatal shooting, a second call was made to the authorities reporting that Hubbard had returned to the family’s home, resulting in Camariya being shot. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Camariya on the ground with a gunshot wound. Despite their best efforts, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after. Hubbard was subsequently taken into custody and charged with murder in connection to Camariya’s untimely death. Additionally, he faces charges of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Following his arrest, Hubbard appeared in court for a bond hearing, during which the judge denied his release on bond.
