Renowned drum virtuoso Peter Erskine is scheduled to perform at the Kuumbwa Jazz venue, showcasing his unmatched talent alongside pianist Alan Pasqua and bassist Scott Colley. Throughout his illustrious career spanning over 50 years, Erskine has proven his versatility by playing with the likes of The Weather Report, Steps Ahead, and various music legends like Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, and Barbra Streisand. An esteemed professor emeritus at the University of Southern California, Erskine is a seasoned jazz drummer with numerous accolades, including two Grammy awards and an honorary doctorate from the Berklee School of Music.
Andre Nickatina, a key figure in the Bay Area hyphy movement, will be headlining at the Catalyst Club. Growing up in the Fillmore District and starting his music career under the alias Dre Dog, Nickatina has evolved his style over the years, gaining a substantial following across the region. Collaborating with fellow Bay Area artists like Mac Mall and Mac Dre, Nickatina has kept the hyphy movement alive with his unique approach to hip-hop, culminating in his latest album “Put That On The Gooch.”
Indie rock enthusiasts can look forward to Grandaddy’s performance at the Rio Theatre. Led by Jason Lytle, Grandaddy has made a mark on the lo-fi indie rock scene with their distinctive sound, blending elements of bands like Pavement with soft vocals reminiscent of Neil Young. After experiencing success in the late ’90s and early 2000s, Grandaddy is back on tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their acclaimed album “The Sophtware Slump.”
