Gráinne Duffy Debuts New Video and Album ‘What Should I Do’

Gráinne Duffy has unveiled her latest album, “What Am I Supposed to Do,” and its title track alongside a captivating new video. As Gráinne Duffy continues her rise in the world of blues and roots music, this album showcases her exceptional talent and powerful voice.

The title track, “What Am I Supposed to Do,” features a driving guitar riff and poignant lyrics that delve into personal turmoil and the chaotic state of the world. Duffy explains that the song embodies a typical rock style in both structure and emotion, offering a reflective perspective on the external turmoil of the world and internal emotional struggles. Recorded during the wildfires in Los Angeles in January 2025, the song’s opening line, “Whole world is crazy, fallin’ down outside,” took on a significant meaning during the recording sessions.

Renowned drummer Kenny Aronoff, who contributed to the album, described the track as a fusion of U2 and The Rolling Stones, highlighting the blend of energizing rock elements with soulful roots. Produced at 64 Sound Studio in Los Angeles by Justin Stanley and Marc Ford of The Black Crowes, the album features a talented lineup including Aronoff, bassist Jørgen Carlsson, keyboardist Peter Levin, Ford, and longtime collaborator Paul Sherry.

Gráinne Duffy’s musical journey began in County Monaghan, Ireland, where she was immersed in a diverse range of musical influences, from Johnny Cash to B.B. King. These influences have shaped her distinct sound, which draws from blues, rock, soul, and Americana. Since her debut album, “Out of the Dark,” in 2007, Duffy has garnered international acclaim, with subsequent releases expanding her following across Europe and North America. Her 2020 album, “Voodoo Blues,” and the 2023 release, “Dirt Woman Blues,” both achieved significant success on music charts, solidifying her position as a modern blues artist.
