Thomas Dollbaum releases music video for single “Coyote”

Thomas Dollbaum composed the songs for Birds of Paradise in just three months and brought together his most trusted musicians at Dial Back Sound in Water Valley, Mississippi. Collaborating with producer Clay Jones, the team managed to learn and record the entire album in a mere four days. The outcome is the album Dollbaum has been yearning to create, embodying Southern rock themes interlaced with the depth of short stories akin to the works of Larry Brown and Breece D’J Pancake. Released today on Dear Life Records, Birds of Paradise marks a significant milestone in Dollbaum’s musical career.

One particular track, “Coyote,” weaves together various memories that have surfaced over time, such as talking a drunken friend off a roof, witnessing the setting of an RV on fire, controlled burns, and coyotes crossing roads in Dollbaum’s childhood Florida neighborhood. This emotive piece features harmonies by MJ Lenderman alongside bassist Nick Corson and guitarist Josh Halper. The accompanying video for “Coyote” was filmed by Dollbaum and Cora Nimtz on Christmas Eve amidst the Mississippi River levees. This setting captures the essence of the song, evoking feelings and visuals that resonate strongly. Dollbaum’s upcoming tour with Widowspeak, which includes a performance at the Nelsonville Music Festival in Ohio, is set to kick off this June.

The album “Birds of Paradise” is now available, having been meticulously crafted at Dial Back Sound in Water Valley, Mississippi, under the guidance of producer Clay Jones.
