Musicians with Longest Streaks at No. 1 on Billboard 200

Drake has achieved yet another milestone in his career with his album “Iceman” debuting at the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart dated May 30. This accomplishment brings his total weeks at No. 1 on the chart to 38, solidifying his position as the hip-hop artist with the most weeks at the top and the Canadian artist with the most weeks at No. 1.

Surprisingly, Drake is now tied with iconic bands Fleetwood Mac and The Rolling Stones, who have also each accumulated 38 weeks at No. 1 throughout their careers. Both Fleetwood Mac and The Stones hold prestigious places in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and one wonders if Drake could potentially join them in the future.

Looking at the span of Drake’s No. 1 albums, they cover nearly 16 years, from July 2010 to May 2026. A comparison to The Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac shows that Drake’s tenure at the top is already approaching the duration of The Stones’ No. 1 albums, which spanned a few months more than 16 years, from August 1965 to November 1981. Fleetwood Mac’s No. 1 albums, on the other hand, span an impressive 21 years from September 1976 to September 1997.

Elvis Presley, often hailed as the King of Rock and Roll, may not have seen the same success in the Billboard Hot 100 chart due to its launch occurring after his breakthrough in 1956. However, the Billboard 200 captures the entirety of his illustrious career, with his debut album “Elvis Presley” entering the chart at No. 11 in March 1956, only the second week of the chart’s existence.

In a separate note, if one were to include the “Saturday Night Fever” soundtrack (which spent 24 weeks at No. 1 in 1978) as a Bee Gees album, the group would have accumulated 31 weeks at the top. The soundtrack featured six tracks, five of which managed to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart, although Billboard categorizes it as a multi-artist soundtrack album.

Since March 24, 1956, when the chart first began consistent weekly publication, several acts have achieved 30 or more weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The likes of Taylor Swift, The Beatles, and more have left their mark on this coveted ranking, with their music resonating with audiences over decades and solidifying their places in music history.
