Shinedown marks 25th No. 1 rock radio hit, over 20 years since band’s formation
Shinedown recently achieved a remarkable milestone in their career by securing their 25th No. 1 rock radio hit with the song “Safe and Sound.” After more than two decades since their formation in Jacksonville, the band continues to make history in the rock music scene. This achievement solidifies their position as the band with the most chart-topping hits in the history of this particular format.
The success of “Safe and Sound” follows a string of recent hits such as “Searchlight,” “Killing Fields,” and “Dance, Kid, Dance,” all of which are tied to their upcoming album. The song climbed to the top spot on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, becoming Shinedown’s third consecutive No. 1 and their second chart-topper of 2026.
Since their first No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart in 2005 with “Save Me,” which held the top position for 12 weeks, Shinedown has maintained a strong presence in the rock music scene. With a total of 23 No. 1 hits on this chart alone, they have outperformed other major rock acts in this category.
“Safe and Sound” also made waves on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, reaching No. 6 with 3.5 million audience impressions during the tracking week. This accomplishment reflects the growing anticipation for Ei8ht, with the single being the fourth from the album to reach No. 1 on Mainstream Rock Airplay.
