De Staat, a Dutch band known for its unique art-rock style, has exciting news for fans. They have recently revealed that their upcoming seventh studio album will be titled “DE STAAT” (THE STATE) and is scheduled for release on September 18 through V2 Records. Alongside this announcement, the band has also introduced a brand new single called “THE FIRE.”

This announcement comes after a two-year hiatus, during which the band made a triumphant return with their single “THE KING.” With the release of “THE FIRE,” De Staat is signaling not just a comeback but a complete conceptual revival. The song itself is filled with energetic percussion and bold vocals, continuing the band’s tradition of delving into themes of power, control, and contemporary political turmoil.

Frontman Torre Florim shed light on the significance of the album’s title, emphasizing how the changing world has altered the band’s identity. “As a band, we’ve always been interested in exploring concepts like power dynamics, faith, and the blurring line between reality and fiction,” he stated. “The current state of the world has pushed us further into that dark realm, giving our band name a whole new level of meaning after 25 years.”

Florim also hinted that the album feels like a natural progression in their musical journey, almost as if their entire discography has been leading up to this moment. The lyrics of “THE FIRE” focus on themes of emotional and political detachment in the digital age, emphasizing the disconnect between global crises and everyday life. Lines like “New car, new war, watch the battles at the bar” juxtaposed with “It’s only burning overseas” highlight this dichotomy.

In addition to the album release, De Staat has unveiled plans for an innovative live concept titled “De Staat Becomes De Staat.” This project, developed in collaboration with a team of creatives including directors, audiovisual artists, lighting designers, and sound engineers, aims to merge live performances with immersive staging, enhancing the band’s dystopian themes for an all-encompassing sensory experience.

The band will showcase this new concept at a series of exclusive shows, starting with a performance at Koninklijk Theater Carré in Amsterdam, followed by an extensive tour across Europe and the UK throughout October and November 2026. UK tour dates include cities like Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Nottingham, and London’s Scala.

With “DE STAAT” on the horizon and ambitious live projects in the works, De Staat is gearing up for what promises to be one of their most compelling eras yet. Fans can expect a thought-provoking exploration of complex themes and a visually stunning live experience that pushes artistic boundaries.
