Music festival to celebrate across Korea from June 1 to 30

France’s renowned Fête de la Musique festival is making its way to Korea, with a series of events planned throughout the country during the month of June. Originating in France in 1982, this festival is now celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide and will be held in various regions across Korea from June 1 to June 30, commemorating the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France.

With performances and programs scheduled in about 11 regions including Seoul, Busan, Cheorwon County, and Daegu, more than 25 French artists are slated to participate in the festival. Among them are notable acts such as the band Meule, the energetic garage rock band La Flemme, and the talented singer-songwriter Lewis OfMan.

In addition to live events, the festival will also feature workshops catering to diverse interests. The Voguing Atelier, happening from June 2 to 8, will invite dancers to delve into ballroom culture. Furthermore, a songwriting camp scheduled from June 15 to 20 will bring together producers, lyricists, and music publishers from both Korea and France. A DJ Atelier program running from June 15 to 20 will see French DJ Olympe 4000 leading a workshop on music production specifically designed for women and gender minorities.

To foster dialogue and exchange within the industry, the French Embassy in Korea will host a series of Fête de la Musique+ conferences where industry professionals and artists from both countries will convene to discuss the music industries of Korea and France. These conferences are set to take place on June 8, 15, and 22 at Thélia Ground in Seoul’s Mapo District.
