MAPPA announces projects to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Yuri!!! on ICE in Japan
Celebrating a decade of success, the widely popular figure skating anime “Yuri!!! on ICE” is gearing up for a series of exciting projects announced by MAPPA. The highly anticipated festivities include a stunning piece of commemorative artwork, a deluxe Blu-ray box set, and a grand exhibition event.
Debuting in October 2016, “Yuri!!! on ICE” took the anime community by storm with its captivating storytelling and mesmerizing animation. Created by Mitsurou Kubo and Sayo Yamamoto, the series follows Japanese skater Yuri Katsuki on a journey of self-discovery under the mentorship of the legendary Victor Nikiforov. The show’s realistic and emotionally charged skating choreography, led by professional Kenji Miyamoto, set a new standard for sports anime.
As part of the 10th-anniversary celebration, MAPPA unveiled a vibrant commemorative visual showcasing the core competitors in a moment of intense passion and rivalry during the Grand Prix Final free skate. Illustrated by original character designer Tadashi Hiramatsu, the artwork captures the essence of the series’ emotional energy and depth.
To mark this special occasion, a 10th-anniversary Blu-ray box set, titled “Yuri!!! on ICE 10th anniversary SPECIAL Blu-ray and CD BOX Limited Quantity Edition,” has been announced. Packed with nine discs, the set includes a compilation of original series episodes, audio commentaries, special footage featuring figure skating legend Stéphane Lambiel, and bonus content like creditless opening and ending sequences and behind-the-scenes footage.
The music section of the box set features iconic skate songs from the series, including “History Maker” and “You Only Live Once,” as well as the complete original soundtrack and live concert audio tracks. Fans can also enjoy a special disc with Yuri Katsuki’s free skating theme song composed by Taro Umebayashi. Additionally, the premium box contains exclusive replica items, a film book-style booklet, and an illustration card set by creator Mitsurou Kubo.
Furthermore, plans are in motion for a large-scale exhibition event, set to take place in the upcoming winter season. Audience members at the “Taiyo Seimei Presents Fantasy on Ice 2026 in MAKUHARI” event will receive exclusive stickers featuring the new anniversary visual.
For die-hard fans eager to get their hands on the commemorative Blu-ray box set, pre-orders are now available through various retailers for 41,800 yen (approximately $265 USD / £210 GBP). The grand release is scheduled for Wednesday, December 23, 2026, promising an unforgettable journey back into the world of “Yuri!!! on ICE” for both new and longtime fans alike.
