“Charli XCX made a long-awaited announcement today regarding her upcoming album. The album, titled Music, Fashion, Film, is eagerly anticipated as a follow-up to her previous works, Brat and Wuthering Heights. The cover of the album prominently features John Cale, Marc Jacobs, and Martin Scorcese, all icons in their respective fields and huge inspirations for Charli. The photo is shot in black and white, a theme reflected in all the music videos released so far in this album cycle.

Charli XCX shared that the album will consist of eleven tracks, lasting a total of thirty minutes and five seconds. The title of the album, Music, Fashion, Film, was inspired by a line from her recent single, “SS26.” In this song, Charli sings, “We’re walking on a runway that goes straight to Hell / Nothing’s gonna save us, not music, fashion, or film.” Interestingly, Charli hinted at the possibility of the album being a rock album, though she later debunked this claim. Nevertheless, elements of pop punk and shoegaze can be detected in tracks like “Rock Music” and “Playboy Bunny.”

Recently, “Rock Music” and “SS26” were featured in the Best New Songs column, with the former even earning the title of Song of the Week on May 14. Fans and critics alike are eager to see whether the unique blend of genres and themes hinted in these songs will extend to the entire Music, Fashion, Film album.
