Legendary rock band members speak out after lead singer appears on adult content website
The All-American Rejects guitarist, Nick Wheeler, has given his bandmate Tyson Ritter’s new adult content site venture a thumbs up, joking that he was relieved to not be considered seductive enough to take part. Ritter, the frontman of the band at 42 years old, recently made headlines by launching an adult content page as part of the band’s promotional campaign for their music comeback.
According to Wheeler, he found the idea fun and exciting, recalling a moment when their touring photographer, Andy, asked them to pose seductively for photos. To Wheeler’s surprise, Ritter was the only one who participated, and Wheeler humorously admitted that it was probably for the best that he didn’t join in.
Wheeler suggested that in the current music industry landscape, musicians have to think creatively and outside the box to promote their music effectively. He drew a parallel between modern-day self-promotion strategies for musicians and Hollywood stars appearing in advertisements and brand deals, highlighting the importance of utilizing various platforms to reach audiences.
The All-American Rejects, known for their iconic anthems like “Gives You Hell” and “Dirty Little Secret,” have returned with their first album in over a decade, titled “Sandbox.” Wheeler mentioned that the writing and recording process for the album mostly took place over Zoom, a method that allowed the band members to collaborate effectively despite not being physically present in the same studio.
Looking ahead to their performance at the upcoming Download festival, Wheeler expressed excitement about the electric atmosphere and enthusiastic crowds that the band always encounters at UK festivals. He praised the festival’s historical significance and emphasized the importance of creating an authentic and timeless festival experience, contrasting it with the curated and Instagram-focused atmosphere of other festivals.
As the band prepares for their performance at Download festival, Wheeler reflected on the changing landscape of the music industry and the need for musicians to adapt and explore different avenues to promote their music effectively. The band’s innovative approach to releasing music and engaging with fans reflects their commitment to pushing boundaries and staying true to their unique sound and style.
