Local history celebration in Bedford County to feature music, food, and vendors
Hyndman Heritage Day is gearing up to commemorate the rich local history of Bedford County with an exciting event featuring music, food, vendors, and family-friendly activities. Scheduled for June 13th from 10:30 AM until dusk at 101 First Avenue, this celebration promises a delightful experience for people of all ages.
The celebrations are open to the public at no charge, offering over 25 vendor booths showcasing a variety of items such as crafts, clothing, toys, and housewares. Attendees can relax in lawn chairs or grandstand seating while enjoying live musical performances. Children, on the other hand, can look forward to riding a live steam train and playing in inflatable structures.
A plethora of games tailored for kids of all ages will be available, along with a diverse range of food vendors offering delectable treats such as food trucks, booths, and the concession stand. Please note that certain food, vendors, and activities may incur charges.
The event will also feature informative displays, including the Bedford County 250 Liberty Bell, exhibits from the local museum, library, veterans’ organizations, and clubs. Emergency services such as the fire department, ambulance services, health center, and sheriff’s department will be present with their vehicles for educational tours.
Entertainment throughout the day will be provided by a lineup including the Manns Choice Church of God Praise Team, John Topper, Caleb Shaffer, Phil McCaulley, Daniel Weber, Kenny Nolan, The Chris Blaney Band, and The Bedford Symphony. For those interested in learning more about the town’s history, guided tours of Hyndman will depart hourly, focusing on the town’s railroads and industries. One of the stops on this tour will include the Hyndman Londonderry Museum.
Families are encouraged to attend, as the event environment is family-friendly with a strict no-alcohol policy. Designated smoking and vaping areas will be available for those who wish to indulge.
