Lead Singer of Disturbed Teases Fans with Promise of Surprising New Album Content
David Draiman recently connected with fans to discuss the upcoming songs from his band, highlighting them as diverse, fresh, and powerful. He expressed his excitement after revisiting the material intended for the next album following 2022’s Divisive release. Draiman shared with fans that he took a step back from the tracks for a while, and upon returning, he “fell in love with them all over again.” While the exact release date for the new album remains unspecified, Draiman eagerly anticipates the moment when these songs will be unveiled, suggesting that listeners will be pleasantly surprised by the band’s new musical direction.
The band’s most recent release, “I Will Not Break,” dropped as a standalone single in February 2025 during their 25th-anniversary tour honoring 2000’s The Sickness. This release also marked a significant shift for the band, as it was their first under Mother Culture Records after a long-standing partnership with Warner Brothers. Guitarist Dan Donegan revealed that the creation of this single occurred rather spontaneously late in the recording process. Straying from initial plans to track guitars for another song, Donegan aimed to capture an old-school essence that would resonate with longtime fans. He drew inspiration from cassette tapes containing practice sessions from the late 1990s, seeking to channel the same raw energy present during those early days of the band.
Reflecting on the creative process, drummer Mike Wengren shared that the memorable riff of “I Will Not Break” came together rapidly, coinciding with the arrival of wine at the studio. Wengren humorously recounted the moment when he ordered wine, noting that the arrival of Cakebread wine spurred the creative flow and led to the inception of the riff within mere minutes. Despite the swift and somewhat unconventional inspiration, the band successfully harnessed this spontaneous energy to craft a powerful track that resonated with their audience.
Moving forward, the band has yet to announce an official release date for the full album. However, Donegan hinted at a potential follow-up single slated for release before unveiling the complete record. The anticipation surrounding the album remains high, especially following the success of Divisive, which sold 26,000 equivalent album units in its debut week and secured the band a No. 13 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Given their track record of achieving five No. 1 albums on the all-genre chart, fans can expect nothing short of excellence from Disturbed’s upcoming musical endeavors.
