The Pretty Reckless to Release Fifth Album and Tour, Without Backing Tracks
The Pretty Reckless is adamant about delivering a raw and authentic performance, steering clear of the use of backing tracks or click tracks during their live shows. Frontwoman Taylor Momsen emphasized this stance in a recent conversation with Thomas Moser of Germany’s Rock Antenne, underscoring their commitment to a genuine rock experience for their audience. As they gear up for the release of their fifth studio album, Dear God, on June 26 via Fearless Records, Momsen conveyed the band’s dedication to maintaining a pure and unadulterated sound.
In her interview, Momsen clarified the band’s approach, stating, “We don’t use the computer or anything like that to enhance anything. The computer is simply a tape machine; it is simply recording. There’s no tuning. There’s no fixing of anything.” This principle carries over to their live performances, where the band of four musicians strips away production tools to present an unfiltered rock show to their fans. Momsen expressed her belief that imperfections and mistakes during performances are what truly connect with the audience, emphasizing the human quality and magic that emanate from such authenticity.
Reflecting on a recent intimate gig at the Underworld in London, where they played a diverse selection of songs spanning their entire career, Momsen noted the loyalty and enthusiasm of their fanbase. She acknowledged the mutual understanding between the band and their fans, appreciating the reception they have received for their music. Despite her notable appearances at various events over the past year, including performances at the 2026 MusiCares Person Of The Year Gala and the 2025 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony, Momsen remains focused on the band’s upcoming endeavors.
In the spirit of the holiday season, The Pretty Reckless delighted fans with a holiday EP titled Taylor Momsen’s Pretty Reckless Christmas, featuring a rendition of “Where Are You Christmas?” that soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Hard Rock Songs chart. Now, as they prepare for an upcoming headlining tour, set to kick off in North America this summer with stops in cities such as New Orleans, Dallas, and Los Angeles before heading to Europe, the band is eager to embark on a new chapter of live performances. This tour follows a successful two-year run alongside AC/DC on the Power Up tour, showcasing their dynamic and engaging stage presence.
Through their commitment to authenticity and the raw energy they exude on stage, The Pretty Reckless continues to captivate audiences with their electrifying performances and unaltered rock sound. As they gear up for the release of their new album and embark on an extensive tour, fans can expect nothing short of an exhilarating and unforgettable experience at each showcase.
