Arts and entertainment thrive in Mahoning Valley

The Boy Band Review, a group specializing in performances of popular boy bands such as *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block, One Direction, and Jonas Brothers, will be taking the stage at the Warren Community Amphitheatre for the River Rock at the Amp concert series. Miss Americanas, a Taylor Swift tribute act, will kick off the show at 5:30 p.m., with tickets available for $10. This event promises an evening filled with nostalgia and musical delight for fans of these iconic boy bands.

For those looking to immerse themselves in the world of art, the Hoyt Art Center in New Castle, Pa., is currently hosting the 53rd Hoyt Regional Juried Art Exhibition and Mini Masterpiece Exhibition until July 23. Visitors can explore the array of artworks on display from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday through Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Similarly, the Ashtabula Arts Center in Ashtabula is hosting a “CHROMAJOURNEY” juried exhibition until June 29, featuring an opening reception on June 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. The center is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Art enthusiasts can also visit the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown to view various exhibitions, including the “Accessible Expressions Ohio Exhibition” until June 12, “A Spark of Genius: Legacy and Lineage, African American Art from the Butler” until July 19, and more. The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Similarly, the McDonough Museum of Art in Youngstown is showcasing multiple exhibitions, such as “#inhale_#exhale” by Crystal Beiersdorfer and “Mahoning Valley 250, Stitches in Time,” running until July 24, with operating hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

For those interested in showcasing their talents, auditions are being held at various locations. The Acts Center for the Performing Arts in Sharon, Pa., is looking for singers for the Greenville Symphony Orchestra/ACTS America250 Celebration Concert on June 22 and 23. On the other hand, Fairview Arts & Outreach Center in Struthers is conducting auditions for Top Hat Productions’ “Come From Away” on Sunday and Monday, welcoming video auditions until Monday.

Furthermore, several museums in the Mahoning Valley region offer a glimpse into history and heritage.
