Fans of the band were treated to the first taste of the album with the release of the high-octane rock anthem “Insanity” along with an accompanying music video that perfectly captures the track’s explosive energy.
Renowned for their previous albums “Blackout” in 2018 and “Devil’s Bell” in 2022, Audrey Horne has garnered international acclaim for their music. Their debut album in 2005 even earned them the prestigious Spellemannprisen award, the Norwegian equivalent of a Grammy. With a history of sharing the stage with music legends such as AC/DC and Mötley Crüe, as well as headlining their own tours and playing alongside esteemed bands like Papa Roach and Backyard Babies, Audrey Horne has solidified their position as one of Norway’s most captivating rock bands.
Reflecting on the creation of the track “Insanity”, the band shared, “The first song that was written for the album. It’s a classic Audrey Horne tune that has the energy, the twin guitars, a big chorus and a cool mid-section. The lyrics are inspired by ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’ by Iron Maiden. It is an attempt to say what might have happened prior to the story in that song”. The music video for “Insanity” further enhances the dynamic essence of the track.
The upcoming album, “Achilles”, features 11 diverse tracks that showcase the band’s versatility, ranging from high-octane heavy rock compositions to more melodic and progressive pieces. With vocalist Toschie at the helm and the collective talents of guitarists Ice Dale and Thomas Tofthagen, bassist Espen Lien, and drummer Kjetil Greve, Audrey Horne demonstrates their prowess in songwriting and musicality.
Songs like the powerful title track “Achilles” kick off the album with roaring guitars and impactful vocals, while tracks like “God Damn Beautiful” highlight a groovier Thin Lizzy-inspired sound with bassist Espen Lien taking on lead vocals. The album closes with the melodic and captivating “New Star Falling”, showcasing the band’s softer side.
With “Achilles”, Audrey Horne carves out a space in the heavy rock genre by combining influences from the ’70s and ’80s with poignant lyrical themes that touch on topics ranging from escapism to social commentary. Set to resonate on rock radios and live stages alike, the album promises to be a standout release in 2026.
