Jack White offers preorders for upcoming album ‘Frozen Charlotte’ before official release announcement
Jack White surprised fans by quietly listing his seventh solo album, “Frozen Charlotte,” for preorder on Third Man Records’ website without any major announcement or press release. The vinyl version of the album is scheduled to ship on July 10 and features thirteen tracks that were recorded at Third Man Studio in Nashville. The album showcases White’s trademark sound and features Patrick Keeler on drums, Dominic John Davis on bass, and Bobby Emmett on keys. Following a tour, the band wasted no time heading back into the studio to create this latest offering.
According to the listing on the webstore, “Frozen Charlotte” continues the musical journey that White embarked on with his previous release in 2024, titled “No Name.” That album had a unique distribution method, with unmarked white-label copies covertly placed in customer bags at Third Man Records stores in Detroit, London, and Nashville. Two tracks from “Frozen Charlotte,” “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs” and “Derecho Demonico,” were released in April, with White debuting them during a performance on “SNL” alongside host Jack Black.
The album’s cover art is a sculpture created by White himself and ties into his first public visual art exhibit, “These Thoughts May Disappear,” currently on display at the Newport Street Gallery in London until September 13. White took to Instagram to explain the significance of the album title, sharing that a “frozen Charlotte” refers to a ceramic penny doll toy from Victorian times that was used to tell a tragic folk tale about a girl freezing to death due to improper attire in winter.
Despite the album’s availability for preorder, White has not mentioned it on his social media platforms, and a representative declined to comment when approached for information by Variety. Fans have the option to preorder two different vinyl versions of “Frozen Charlotte” through Third Man Records’ website, one featuring a blue swirl pattern and the other presenting a creamy look.
In addition to the album release, White is currently touring in Europe and is set to kick off a North American tour in July, with a show scheduled for July 25 at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston. Although White remains tight-lipped about the album online, his music continues to captivate audiences worldwide, and “Frozen Charlotte” promises to be another stellar addition to his impressive discography.
