‘My Hero Academia’ releases video celebrating Deku’s 10-year journey
To honor the 10th anniversary of the My Hero Academia anime adaptation, a special video titled “PLUS ULTRA MOVIE: ‘You Can be a Hero'” has recently been unveiled. The anime made its debut a decade ago on April 3. Additionally, since 2018, the franchise has recognized June 16 as “Hero Day,” a day dedicated to commemorating the airing of Season 3 Episode 49, “One For All,” featuring the unforgettable faceoff between All Might and All For One.
The release of the new video on this year’s Hero Day celebrations shines a spotlight on the journey of the main protagonist, Izuku Midoriya (also known as Deku). Accompanied by the renowned series soundtrack “You Say Run,” the video serves as a retrospective look at Deku’s evolution from a young boy aspiring to be a hero to his current heroic status, all inspired by the profound words of All Might: “You can be a hero.”
A notable aspect of this special video is the inclusion of freshly animated scenes that were crafted explicitly for this project. Character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi, alongside other key staff members, came together once again to contribute to the production of these additional sequences.
The anniversary project aims to encapsulate the essence of the journey that Deku and the other characters have undertaken, providing fans with a nostalgic and heartwarming look back at the transformation and growth they have witnessed over the past decade.
As fans eagerly engage with this celebratory content, the video manages to encapsulate the overarching themes of heroism, perseverance, and the strength of the human spirit that have resonated with viewers throughout the series. By revisiting Deku’s path to becoming a hero, the video serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of My Hero Academia and its ability to inspire and captivate audiences.
The release of “PLUS ULTRA MOVIE: ‘You Can be a Hero'” not only marks a monumental milestone in the series’ history but also serves as a tribute to the dedicated fan base that has supported and embraced the story of Deku and his fellow heroes. Through its heartfelt storytelling and impactful message, the video stands as a testament to the enduring popularity and influence of My Hero Academia, solidifying its place as a beloved and iconic series within the realm of anime and beyond.
