Expansion Planned for Japan’s Nintendo Museum with Addition of “Super Family Restaurant” Dining Area
The Nintendo Museum in Japan is undergoing an expansion that will intrigue fans and visitors alike. Nintendo recently announced plans to introduce a new dining facility called the “SUPER FAMILY RESTAURANT,” intended to broaden the museum’s food offerings and provide guests with a more formal place to enjoy their meals.
Situated in Uji, Kyoto, the Nintendo Museum serves as a tribute to the company’s rich history in entertainment, showcasing a variety of products that span several generations of Nintendo’s legacy. Currently, the museum features the casual “Hatena Burger” cafĂ©, offering guests a chance to savor customizable burgers and other menu items inspired by Nintendo’s whimsical entertainment approach.
The name of the new dining area, “SUPER FAMILY RESTAURANT,” appears to pay homage to the Super Famicom, Nintendo’s iconic home console that originated in Japan and later obtained global recognition as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Alongside the announcement of this exciting addition, Nintendo shared a preview image of the upcoming restaurant, featuring a prominent statue of Link from The Legend of Zelda, equipped with a bow and ready for action.
Upon closer inspection of the image, observant fans may detect what appears to be the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda series displayed within the venue’s interior. In addition, another showcased item closely resembles Samus Aran’s celebrated Power Suit from the Metroid franchise, hinting at a broader incorporation of Nintendo’s gaming history into the restaurant’s design scheme.
Nintendo is actively developing the new dining venue, with plans for a diverse selection of video game-inspired dishes, desserts, and beverages to cater to the taste buds of its visitors. The “SUPER FAMILY RESTAURANT” is scheduled to open its doors in autumn 2026 at the Nintendo Museum in Uji, Kyoto, Japan. While specific details about the full menu and other offerings are pending, Nintendo assures that more information will be revealed as the restaurant’s launch date approaches.
