TRNSMT fans lift spirits with sunny Fratellis sing-along after Scotland defeat

Attendees of the TRNSMT festival in Glasgow were able to move past their World Cup disappointment and enjoy the warm sunshine on the festival’s second day. Despite the rain that plagued the event on Friday and the screening of Scotland’s defeat to Morocco, fans remained in high spirits, with many sporting Scotland flags and football jerseys. The atmosphere was lively as fans sang along to hits like Chelsea Dagger during The Fratellis’ performance.

The second day of the festival featured headliners Kasabian, along with acts such as DJ Sonny Fedora, Mercury Music Prize winners English Teacher, and West Lothian band The Snuts. On Friday, thousands of fans stayed behind to watch Scotland’s match, and festival organizers DF Concerts secured a late license for the night, with around 10,000 fans staying on site to support the team.

Despite the subdued atmosphere following the defeat, the festival picked up on Saturday with bright spirits and a slightly quieter crowd than in previous years. The Snuts, a band from West Lothian, expressed their hopes of headlining the festival in the future, reflecting on their journey from a small slot to a mainstage performance. They highlighted TRNSMT as a festival where artists can progress to bigger stages, emphasizing the importance of the event in their careers.

English Teacher, another band at the festival, entertained the crowd with their energetic set, while local favorites The Fratellis got the audience singing along to their hits. Other acts like Big Special and The Last Dinner Party also impressed the crowd, drawing in more attendees as the evening went on. In addition, emerging acts on the BBC Introducing Stage, such as Tanzana, showcased their talent to appreciative listeners seeking shade from the sun.

Notable surprises included a secret performance by Twin Atlantic on the Hangout stage, listed under the pseudonym “Triplet Pacific.” The festival is set to continue on Sunday, where Lewis Capaldi will take the headline slot. With a diverse lineup and a mix of established and emerging talent, TRNSMT promises to be a memorable music experience for fans in Scotland.
