Deep Purple Teases Upcoming Studio Album for Next Year
Deep Purple, the iconic rock band, seems to be keeping up its momentum. Despite the upcoming release of their 24th studio album titled “Splat!” this summer, drummer Ian Paice has hinted that the band is already contemplating the idea of heading back to the studio for another album as soon as 2027.
Scheduled for release on July 3 through earMUSIC, “Splat!” follows their 2024 album “=1” and continues their fruitful partnership with producer Bob Ezrin, who has been collaborating with them since 2013’s “Now What?!”. As the band gears up for an extensive tour throughout 2026, they are still finding time to discuss their future plans regarding new music.
In a recent interview, Paice shared insights into the band’s discussions about potential new studio work in 2027. Despite their busy touring schedule this year, the band is already mulling over the creative possibilities for their next project. Paice expressed, “Well, that’s already being discussed for… This [2026] is a heavy touring year — it’s almost 100 shows or something — so next year [2027] won’t be the same. You can’t keep doing it that way.” He emphasized the importance of having creative ideas, stating, “If you have any ideas, making a record’s easy. If you don’t have ideas, making a record’s impossible. So getting together, and if we find we have some ideas we all like, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t put together another record sometime next year. It’s the nature of things. It’s all about ideas.”
Deep Purple’s proactive stance towards future recordings underscores their enduring relevance in the music industry. Recently, the band collaborated with country star Keith Urban on the track “Diablo,” showcasing their versatility and willingness to explore new musical territories. This willingness to push boundaries and explore new sounds is a testament to the band’s enduring creativity and passion for their craft.
As fans eagerly anticipate the release of “Splat!” this summer, the prospect of another studio album from Deep Purple in 2027 is sure to generate excitement and anticipation among music enthusiasts. With a long history of delivering powerful and innovative music, Deep Purple continues to prove that they are far from slowing down and remain an influential force in the rock genre.
