Jordan Fairless debuts new indie rock project in Woodstock
In a recent interview, Diffuser caught up with musician and artist Jordan Fairless to delve into his latest musical endeavor, Big Deep. Fairless, a bassist, songwriter, and co-founder of the jamband Spafford, has now shifted his focus to the creation of his new band. Big Deep is a project that boasts an “indie rock” sound infused with expansive groove and addictive melodies, showcasing the deep well of creativity that Fairless draws from. The band, based in Woodstock, New York, is gearing up for the release of a new album and plans for an upcoming tour.
Having spent over a decade touring with Spafford, Fairless has honed his skills in blending technical innovation with soulful songwriting, a combination that left an indelible mark on the jam scene. His work with Spafford includes writing and performing their most-streamed song on Spotify, “Leave the Light On.” After taking a break from the road for a few years, Fairless teamed up with guitarist and composer Luke Schwartz to bring Big Deep to life. Schwartz, whose background includes collaborations with noted artists and recording with members of bands like Sonic Youth, Swans, and Dinosaur Jr, brings a wealth of experience in experimental guitar work and art-rock to the table.
