Skiantos emerged in the 1970s as part of the initial surge of punk bands. Established in 1975, the band realized that their music was not fueled by the same level of anger as some of their contemporaries. Instead, they leaned towards incorporating comedy inspired by Futurism and Dadaism into their performances.

Their musical style was intentionally unrefined and unconventional, aiming to challenge and provoke their audience. The off-key vocals, eccentric lyrics, and unpolished sound were all deliberate components of their artistic expression. Adding to their disruptive tactics, Skiantos would sometimes toss vegetables into the crowd during their performances.

However, their most notorious show occurred at the Bologna Rock Festival on April 2, 1979. The band stunned the audience by setting up a full kitchen on stage, complete with a table, a TV, and a fridge. Unconventionally, instead of playing music, they proceeded to cook spaghetti, enjoyed a meal, and abruptly exited the stage, leaving the mesmerized crowd in confusion.

This unconventional and eccentric display characterized Skiantos and their bold, avant-garde approach to punk rock. Their willingness to defy traditional norms and deliver an unexpected and bewildering experience to their audience cemented their status as vibrant and unpredictable pioneers in the punk music scene of the 1970s.
