The Rolling Stones debut two new songs from upcoming album ‘Foreign Tongues’
The Rolling Stones have unveiled two new tracks from their upcoming album, Foreign Tongues. Set for release on July 10, the songs “Divine Intervention” and “Jealous Lover” feature a special guest appearance by Steve Winwood in the latter. Completing the already released songs, “In the Stars” and “Rough and Twisted,” this latest reveal gives fans a taste of what’s to come.
The name of the band’s 25th album pays homage to their iconic tongue logo created by artist John Pasche. Initially, the Rolling Stones had plans for a European and UK stadium tour this summer, but last December, those plans were scrapped. Keith Richards, the band’s guitarist, who celebrated his 82nd birthday, cited health reasons for being unable to commit to the extensive tour. His struggle with arthritis has forced him to alter his playing style and made a full stadium tour seem more daunting.
Despite the setbacks, recent hints suggest that The Rolling Stones are gearing up for a comeback. Titled “The Cockroaches,” a series of posters seen around London have drawn attention to the band. The mysterious posters feature a QR code linking to a website with a cryptic message reminiscent of their classic hit “Sympathy for the Devil.” This elaborate teaser campaign seems to be the band’s way of building anticipation for their new album.
Foreign Tongues, recorded in under a month at Metropolis Studios in West London, sees the band working once again with producer Andrew Watt. Besides the core members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, longtime collaborators Steve Jordan, Darryl Jones, and Matt Clifford are also part of the lineup. The album boasts guest appearances by music legends such as Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood, Robert Smith of The Cure, and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers.
In a poignant tribute, drummer Charlie Watts, who passed away in 2021, contributes posthumously with drum parts from his final recording sessions. Fans can explore various physical editions and merchandise for the album and even secure pre-orders. Alongside the album release, there are whispers of a potential tour in the works for later this year or early 2027.
