Woman discovered deceased in car days after family reported her missing

Loretta “Lori” Evelyn Moore, a 55-year-old woman, was declared missing by her family after she failed to come back home from an acquaintance’s place in Washington state. The incident unfolded when her family noticed her absence on the previous Saturday, the night after visiting the acquaintance. Ironically, the family had planned a Father’s Day celebration that Lori did not attend as anticipated. She had a medical condition that affected her heart, causing concern for her well-being. Deputies engaged in conversations with the acquaintance Lori visited and managed to retrieve video footage of her departure on June 19 in her black 2018 Honda Accord. Subsequently, the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office reported alarming news: a member of the community had flagged down a deputy in Castle Rock on Wednesday night due to a disconcerting discovery. To their dismay, a black vehicle was discovered submerged in Arkansas Creek, flipped upside down, with a lifeless body inside. Authorities confirmed that the car matched Lori’s vehicle, identifying the deceased as the 55-year-old woman who had gone missing. No additional occupants were found within the vehicle. According to investigators, Lori’s car had left the main road and traversed through a field before ultimately rolling into the creek. Law enforcement agencies had solicited assistance from the community in locating Lori owing to the suspicious circumstances surrounding her disappearance. Phone records disclosed that her cellphone had last pinged a location around 9:30 p.m. the night she was last seen alive. Nonetheless, Cowlitz County officials refrained from disclosing the cause of her passing at that time.
