UK-based instrumental math/post-rock duo, Gudewife, have recently unveiled their latest music video for the track “When Silence Forgets Itself.” This single is part of their upcoming EP titled “Atoms, Don’t Die,” set to release on July 24 under Ripcord Records. The video debut on Everything Is Noise has been praised for its emotional intensity and immersive atmosphere, delving into themes of the inability to escape the incessant noise of life.

The duo, comprised of Luke Burrows on angular, melodic guitar work and Tom Holmes on intricate, restless rhythms, merges elements of math rock, post-rock, ambient, experimental, jazz, IDM, psych, and prog to craft a unique and progressive sound. Their music incorporates hazy synth textures and evocative found sounds, creating a rich auditory experience.

Gudewife’s music explores a diverse sonic landscape, transitioning seamlessly between introspective tranquility and bursts of frenetic energy. With a mix of shifting time signatures and evolving tempos, their compositions offer a dynamic journey through a range of emotions and atmospheres.

Their new EP, “Atoms, Don’t Die,” serves as a contemplation on the theme of loss in its various manifestations. Drawing inspiration from the concept that matter never truly vanishes but instead disperses, the record delves into topics of death, grief, the passage of youth, and the erosion of beliefs. Through five tracks, Gudewife guides listeners through a spectrum of emotions, from ambient introspection to high-energy movements.

The EP was produced by Tom Peters at Trapdoor Studios and mastered by Stephen Kerrison. Gudewife has previously performed alongside acts like Alpha Male Tea Party, Pleiades, and Vordermann, establishing a strong presence in the UK underground music scene. Their sound challenges conventions and pushes boundaries, showcasing a commitment to innovation and artistic exploration.

“Atoms, Don’t Die” can be pre-ordered now in anticipation of its release on July 24 through Ripcord Records. Gudewife’s music is a testament to their creative vision and dedication to crafting immersive, emotionally charged musical experiences.
