Peter Gabriel releases ‘I Belong to the Sky’ to celebrate strawberry moon
In celebration of the strawberry moon on Tuesday, Peter Gabriel has surprised fans with a new song, “I Belong to the Sky,” from his upcoming album, o/i, which serves as the sequel to 2023’s i/o.
Reflecting on the new track, Gabriel shares, “It’s another song which has taken a while to grow. It was a candidate, in some form, for the i/o record, but didn’t get finished off, but it was always one of my favorites.” He emphasizes the belief that reality is more flexible than commonly thought and that strong visualizations can influence outcomes, saying, “Visualizing … how dreams leave their nest, is the main topic of the song.”
Embracing the structure adopted for i/o, Gabriel plans to unveil a new track from o/i with each full moon throughout the year, aiming for a complete release by the end of 2026. Furthermore, both Dark-Side and Bright-Side mixes will be featured on the album, crafted by Tchad Blake and Mark “Spike” Stent, respectively.
“I Belong to the Sky (Bright-Side Mix)” is now available through digital platforms for listeners to enjoy.
