Sam Canty grew up in Odessa, Texas, where not much was happening, especially when he attended Permian High School, immortalized in “Friday Night Lights.” To combat the lack of activities in his hometown, Canty started a cover band in 2018 to keep himself busy. “When I found the guys and became a part of that band, that became my favorite thing to do — go play music with my friends after work and possibly go play a show during the weekend,” Canty recalls.

Little did Canty and his bandmates know that this casual venture would turn into a full-fledged music career. Treaty Oak Revival experienced unprecedented success after their debut single, “No Vacancy,” achieved platinum status in 2020. Their self-titled debut album and subsequent releases further solidified their position in the country-rock scene, with “Have a Nice Day” and “West Texas Degenerate” earning gold and top spots on rock and Americana/folk charts, respectively.

Despite their chart-topping success, Canty emphasizes that the band’s primary motivation has always been their love for music, especially country and rock. “We did this for the right reasons. We did it because we love country and rock music. We love writing songs. We love Texas and the scene that it’s part of,” Canty says. The band’s authenticity and dedication to their roots have set them apart in an industry where trends come and go.

Treaty Oak Revival’s unique blend of genres, incorporating elements of Southern rock, Red Dirt country, grunge, and alternative, has attracted a diverse audience. Canty acknowledges their transition from traditional country to a more rock-oriented sound, influenced by their blue-collar upbringing in Odessa. “We’ve always been more rock than country,” he affirms. The band’s tracks like “Bad State of Mind,” “Withdrawals,” and “Naders” showcase their dynamic range and ability to appeal to a broad spectrum of music enthusiasts.

As Treaty Oak Revival prepares to headline at Red Rocks on July 1, Canty and his bandmates are excited to share their rowdy, high-energy performance with fans. Having previously opened for artists like Koe Wetzel at the iconic venue, they are now ready to take center stage. Alongside William Clark Green and Gannon Fremin & CCREV, Treaty Oak Revival promises an unforgettable concert experience that encapsulates their signature sound and electrifying stage presence.

In a music landscape saturated with commercial interests and fleeting trends, Treaty Oak Revival stands out as a beacon of authenticity and passion. Their journey from a small-town cover band to a chart-topping sensation is a testament to their unwavering dedication to their craft and roots. As they gear up for their headline debut at Red Rocks, Treaty Oak Revival remains committed to delivering an electrifying performance that showcases their unique blend of country and rock influences.
