Merseyside psych-rock icons, The Coral, are set to embark on their first headline UK tour in nearly three years. The tour announcement comes on the heels of the surprise release of their thirteenth studio album, 388. This album was strategically introduced with a “no hype” approach in mind, hitting record shop shelves without fanfare. Using a classic 1970s Tascam 388 tape recorder, the band aimed to capture an old-school, analog sound reminiscent of 1960s girl groups and The Wailers’ early recordings. With a focus on authenticity, the record embraces imperfections to create a raw, human touch.

In conjunction with their tour news, The Coral revealed a new music video for their upbeat track “Leave It In The Past.” Filmed at Birkenhead Market, the video encapsulates the band’s essence, blending modern energy with a nostalgic touch. Frontman James Skelly emphasized the mystical charm of the market, perfectly in line with the timeless quality of their latest album.

The upcoming fall tour will commence on October 2nd in Sheffield, making its way through cities like Newcastle, Leeds, London, and Manchester before wrapping up in Birmingham. Joining them on select dates will be Dave McCabe of The Zutons and Lawrence’s Mozart Estate. Beyond their headline shows, The Coral will also take the stage with The Mary Wallopers for special arena performances in Brighton, Dublin, and Glasgow later in the year.

Co-produced with Chris Taylor at Liverpool’s Kempston Street Studios, 388 serves as a retrospective celebration of the band’s thirty-year journey, acknowledging the milestones and experiences that have defined their legacy. Tickets for all tour dates will go on sale on July 3rd.

The Coral’s authentic and heartfelt approach to music has garnered them a loyal following over the years. Their unique sound, blending influences from various eras, continues to captivate audiences and critics alike. Anticipation is high for their upcoming tour and the opportunity to experience their timeless music in person. Make sure to secure your tickets and join The Coral on an unforgettable musical journey through their storied career.
