Rush delays two Texas shows because of illness.
Iconic rock band Rush had to postpone two upcoming concerts in Texas due to illness. Doctors advised lead vocalist and bassist Geddy Lee to take extra time off to recover from laryngitis and bronchitis. Understanding the disappointment fans must feel, the band made the decision to reschedule the Fort Worth shows to July 11 and July 13. Rush always aims to deliver the best performance possible, so they want Geddy Lee to fully recuperate before returning to the stage.
After surprising their fans with a tour announcement for 2026, Rush decided to extend the “Fifty Something Tour” into 2027. The upcoming shows will include performances across South America, Europe, and the UK. It will mark their first time in Europe since 2013 and nearly two decades since visiting South America. For this tour, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson will be joined by German drummer Anika Nilles, known for her work with Jeff Beck and multiple solo projects. The addition of keyboard player Loren Gold will further enhance the live experience for their fans.
Geddy Lee expressed his excitement about returning to cities they haven’t played in a while and performing in new locations. The band is rehearsing rigorously, learning around 40 songs to make the shows dynamic and allow for different songs each night. Rush is eager to celebrate 50 years of their music and pay tribute to their late drummer and lyricist Neil Peart. Their special shows will feature an “Evening with” format, presenting two sets each night with a diverse selection of songs ranging from their greatest hits to fan favorites.
However, due to overwhelming demand and a successful pre-sale, Rush had to add 17 more shows in different cities to accommodate all their fans. They plan to visit Philadelphia, Detroit, Boston, Atlanta, and more as part of their expanded tour. This decision highlights Rush’s dedication to their fans and their commitment to delivering unforgettable performances across various locations.
Overall, Rush’s ability to adapt to challenges, prioritize the health of their lead singer, and cater to their fans’ desires exemplifies their enduring legacy in the rock music genre. As they gear up for their upcoming tour, Rush continues to showcase their passion for music and their gratitude for the unwavering support of their loyal fan base.
