“Jay Buchanan to release rendition of Black Sabbath’s “Changes” along with tour dates”
Jay Buchanan, the dynamic lead singer of blues-rock band Rival Sons, has introduced a touching rendition of the iconic Black Sabbath track “Changes,” now available for streaming. The song exudes a somber, western-gothic vibe reminiscent of Buchanan’s recent solo projects, created originally for a Rolling Stone France session and taking on profound personal significance for the artist over the last year.
Having spent a year and a half touring with Black Sabbath during their monumental The End world tour, Buchanan releases this stripped-down tribute on the anniversary of the significant charity event at Villa Park, honoring the enduring legacy of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne. Reflecting on the song’s poignant lyrics, Buchanan expresses admiration for Osbourne’s resilience and triumph over adversity, framing the track as a tribute to “the hero that lived to see his grandchildren and be kissed by the entire world.”
Set to release digitally on July 1, 2026, the single will also see an exclusive 7-inch vinyl run of only 300 copies at Fingerprints Records in Long Beach, in the aftermath of Buchanan’s well-received solo album, “Weapons Of Beauty,” which featured the standout track “True Black.” Produced by nine-time Grammy winner Dave Cobb, the album showcases Buchanan’s raw talent and emotional depth outside of the grandeur of his primary band.
In celebration of the new release, Buchanan will embark on a special headline acoustic tour across the UK in July. These intimate performances will lead up to his highly anticipated appearance at the Steelhouse Festival in Wales, an event that we previously covered and praised for its unique atmosphere. Joining Buchanan on his solo tour are the Fire In Her Eyes duo, adding an acid-folk touch to the lineup.
Catch Jay Buchanan live at the following locations this July: Brighton, Komedia (21st Jul); Southampton, Attic (23rd Jul); Bristol, Lantern (24th Jul); Ebbw Vale, Steelhouse Festival (25th Jul); Birmingham, Glee Club (27th Jul); London, Signature Brew (Song Cake Live TV recording) (28th Jul); Leeds, Wardrobe (29th Jul).
