Ruby Dice honors Austin music scene with new album ‘Take Me Back’
Austin Americana artist, bassist, and bandleader, Ruby Dice, is gearing up to release her latest album, Take Me Back, on August 28, 2026, through Gitcha Records. The album, deeply rooted in various genres like Americana, Country, Blues, and Rock, serves as both a personal journey for Ruby and a heartfelt homage to the vibrant Austin music community that has significantly influenced her musical career.
The album’s debut single, “Dress to Impress,” featuring Shinyribs, is already available to listeners, while the upcoming second single, “Little Big Town,” featuring Nakia, is set for release on July 29.
Ruby Dice, named Best Bassist in Austin by the Austin Chronicle, has solidified her position as an esteemed collaborator in the music scene, alongside her songwriting endeavors. Hailing from Gunnison, Colorado, Ruby blends the raw energy of her Colorado roots with the soulful sound of Texas music.
Collaborating with the Ruby Dice Band, the record was brought to life at Buds Recording Services. The touring band includes Ruby Dice on bass and vocals, Calloway Ritch on guitar, Jeff Sanders on drums and percussion, David Thacker on keys, and Simon Paige on pedal steel.
Featuring guest appearances by prominent Austin musicians like Suzanna Choffel, Shinyribs, Nakia, Jordan Matthew Young, Grey Horse, Scott Strickland, Sean McHargue, Garrett Jay Brown, and Sophia Johnson, the album highlights the collaborative ethos that defines Austin’s music culture.
According to Dice, the album transcends a mere collection of songs, embodying the essence of the supportive and inspiring music community that she calls home. Each collaboration symbolizes a friendship, a late-night jam session, or a moment of belief from a fellow artist along her musical journey.
Having shared stages with revered artists like Brian Wilson and commencing her career by recording with members of Band of Heathens, Ruby Dice now leads her band while actively engaging in collaborative projects with fellow Austin musicians.
To celebrate the album release, a special hometown show has been scheduled for August 29 at The 04 Center in Austin. The event promises a screening of a documentary showcasing the making of the album, and guest appearances by the talented collaborators featured on the record.
As Ruby embarks on her musical journey, fans can catch her live at various venues across the country, including Steamboat Rodeo in Steamboat Springs, Colo., Cattleman’s Day in Gunnison, Colo., and The Continental Club in Houston, among others. The highlight of her tour will be the AmericanaFest in Nashville, Tenn., from September 15-19, showcasing her undeniable talent and the spirit of collaboration that defines her musical career.
