Chat Pile unveils latest video single “PEN I S MALL”
Chat Pile has just unveiled their latest single, titled “PEN I S MALL,” from their upcoming album ‘Who Loves the Sun,’ set to be released on September 4th. Bassist Stin describes the track as the band’s heaviest to date, drawing inspiration from vocalist Raygun Busch’s time working as a maintenance employee at an Oklahoma City shopping mall.
Ray B. provided insight into the origins of the song, stating that in a more ideal scenario, a maintenance job at a local mall could be enjoyable if not for the harsh reality of survival in America. He reflects on the challenges faced by those in lower and middle-class positions due to the unequal distribution of resources under Capitalism.
Additionally, Chat Pile has also revealed a corresponding music video for this single. ‘Who Loves the Sun’ marks the band’s third album following ‘God’s Country’ in 2022 and ‘Cool World’ in 2024. The album continues their tradition of a noisy, abrasive sound while exploring themes such as economic struggles, climate change, technology, and contemporary society.
The band’s upcoming tour dates include stops across Europe in August and a return to North America in the fall. Chat Pile is scheduled to perform at Riot Fest 2026 and will host a hometown fundraiser show in Oklahoma City, along with additional appearances with Soul Glo.
The tour schedule includes various cities in the UK, EU, and the USA. In Europe, they will be performing at venues like Sonic Blast in Ancora, Portugal, OFF Festival in Katowice, Poland, and Button Factory in Dublin, Ireland. In the USA, they will be hitting stages in cities like Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, and Seattle.
Chat Pile’s tour will feature performances with several supporting acts such as Ragana, Soul Glo, Prize Horse, Virga, and Shallowater, among others. The band is set to deliver their signature raw and intense live performances while connecting with fans through their music and lyrics.
