Smoky Seattle, a band based in Luxembourg, has recently unleashed their premier single, “Light Down the Hall,” and is gearing up to take the main stage at the first-ever Luxembourg Rocks Summerfest on July 11th at Sang a Klang, marking a significant turning point for Marta Duponselle and the rest of the group.

Initially recognized for their renditions of classic rock tunes, drawing influence from the grunge era of the ’90s and alternative rock spanning various decades, Smoky Seattle is now progressing to the next phase of their musical journey. The band’s lead member Marta revealed, “Our first track was launched in June, and another one is slated for release in a few weeks. We’ve been hitting the studio, laying down new tracks, and gearing up for an album release by year-end.” Their debut original piece delves into themes of recollection, tenacity, and evolution while staying faithful to the grunge-infused resonance that initially united the quintet.

Venturing beyond the borders of Luxembourg, Smoky Seattle’s pioneering musical creations have already captured the ears of listeners abroad, particularly in cities like Los Angeles, San Diego, and Sacramento, offering an unexpected and gratifying experience for the band. Marta expressed her delight saying, “We were pleasantly surprised to see our latest track resonating across the seas. It’s quite astonishing.” She went on to share, beaming, “Today marks the premiere of our track on the airwaves of Luxembourg, and we’re immensely grateful for the opportunity.”

In addition to their musical endeavors, Smoky Seattle is spearheading a new initiative with hopes of cementing its place on the local music calendar. Rather than biding their time for an opportune moment to attend a rock festival, the band decided to take matters into their own hands and develop the Luxembourg Rocks Summerfest. Marta elucidated, “We felt there was a gap in Luxembourg’s music scene, so instead of waiting, we took the step to create something unique, in collaboration with some exceptional bands.” Standing shoulder to shoulder with Smoky Seattle on the roster are Luxembourg-based groups Unread and 20 Minutes, all striving to craft an event that celebrates live rock music and honors local talent, with Marta expressing, “This is just the beginning. We’re seeking our core supporters, the ones who can claim they were present from day one.”

Emphasizing an uninhibited musical experience, Marta articulated the straightforward ethos behind Luxembourg Rocks Summerfest, stating, “We firmly believe that the essence of rock music is best savored as a collective experience, unfiltered and raw. No pre-recorded tracks, just pure, unadulterated music.” As they ride the wave of their fresh musical content, embark on their debut album’s impending release, and nurture aspirations of establishing Luxembourg Rocks Summerfest as an annual tradition, Smoky Seattle is undoubtedly laying the foundation for an exciting and promising future in the realm of alternative rock.
