The Margate School is excited to host a private viewing of the new Arnold Schwartzman exhibition from May 3 to June 1. Schwartzman, a multi-talented artist known for his work in graphic design, filmmaking, and photography, will showcase his creative genius at the Schwartzman Gallery. The exhibition will feature his iconic posters, award-winning documentaries like Genocide, and captivating photographs. Uwe Dereken, the Director of The Margate School, expressed his enthusiasm for launching the Schwartzman Gallery with such a renowned artist. He believes that Schwartzman’s work embodies artistic excellence and creativity, reflecting the gallery’s mission to nurture and promote the arts in the community.

On May 2, Where Else? Margate will host the band MIEN, comprised of members from Elephant Stone, The Black Angels, and The Earlies. With a new album on the horizon, MIEN is set to mesmerize audiences with their unique blend of music. The event is open to all ages and is presented by Night Harvest, with tickets available for purchase.

For movie enthusiasts, Palace Cinema Broadstairs will screen “Mr. Burton,” a poignant film based on the true story of a troubled boy who found his talent with the help of an English teacher, eventually becoming the legendary actor Richard Burton. The film will be shown from May 2 to May 6, offering a heartwarming and inspirational cinematic experience for viewers.

On the same night, Olby’s Soul Café Margate will host “The Social,” a monthly music event featuring swing, rhythm & blues, rock n roll, boogaloo, ska, and 60s soul. DJs Jerome and Lindsay, along with guest DJs, will provide a diverse selection of tunes to keep the crowd entertained throughout the evening.
