Rock icons Little Feat have returned with their latest studio album, “Strike Up The Band,” marking their 17th album to date. The rejuvenated lineup of Little Feat includes original members Bill Payne, Sam Clayton, Fred Tackett, and Kenny Gradney, along with new additions Scott Sharrard on lead vocals and Tony Leone on drums. The album features collaborations with notable artists such as Robert Hunter from the Grateful Dead, Molly Tuttle, Larkin Poe, and Nashville producer Vance Powell.

The unmistakable sound of Little Feat shines through in “Strike Up The Band.” From the opening chords of “4 Days of Heaven/3 Days of Work” to the heartfelt title track, the album encapsulates the classic essence of the band. Scott Sharrard’s impressive performance on lead vocals and guitar adds a fresh dynamic to the record, embodying the spirit of Little Feat. Interestingly, Sharrard’s live debut with the band coincided with the passing of former guitarist Paul Berrare, creating a poignant moment in the band’s history.

Despite facing challenges, lineup changes, and periods of hiatus over their 50-year career, the members of Little Feat have maintained a strong bond and continued to create music collaboratively. “Strike Up The Band” showcases the band’s enduring creativity and camaraderie, offering a blend of new songs that complement their classic hits like “Willin’,” “Dixie Chicken,” and “Spanish Moon.” Fans of the band can catch them live at The State Theater in Ithaca on May 10, as they embark on their 2025 tour.

“Strike Up The Band” is now available for pre-order on the band’s official website and is set for an official release on May 9. The album promises to be a must-have addition to the collection of any Little Feat enthusiast, with its seamless blend of new tracks and familiar sounds. Little Feat’s resilience, commitment to their craft, and musical prowess shine through in this latest offering, setting the stage for a memorable musical journey for fans old and new alike.
