New Album “The Manticore Tapes” by Motorhead Set to be Released
Motörhead, the iconic hard rock band, saw its seminal line-up come together in 1976, a year after the band’s formation. This line-up, known as the ‘Three Amigos’ era of Motörhead, consisted of Lemmy on bass and vocals, Fast Eddie Clarke on guitar, and Phil ‘Philthy Animal’ Taylor on drums. This trio embarked on an extraordinary journey to reach the pinnacle of the hard rock music scene.
In August 1976, Motörhead gathered at Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s renowned Manticore Studio in Fulham to rehearse and introduce the new line-up. During this time, they recorded together for the first time, and now, nearly fifty years later, a long-lost tape from that session has resurfaced. This tape has been carefully restored to its raw, authentic glory in honor of the band’s upcoming 50th anniversary.
The passage of a whole half-century since 1976 is almost surreal to contemplate. Equally remarkable is the journey of Lemmy, once seen hammering away at fruit machines in London’s pubs, to becoming an enduring symbol of rock ‘n’ roll immortality. Despite his untimely passing almost a decade ago, Lemmy’s legacy lives on as an icon in the rock music pantheon. One can imagine him laughing at the thought of his status on rock ‘n’ roll’s Mount Rushmore, a fitting tribute to his enduring influence.
The Manticore Tapes will be released in various formats, including a deluxe expanded bookpack containing a double LP and 7″ single, a single LP, as well as CD and digital versions. This collection will give fans a chance to experience this rare piece of Motörhead history in its entirety.
To complement this release, a new video for the song “Motörhead” has been unveiled, allowing fans to immerse themselves in the band’s raw, energetic sound once again. The passion and power of Motörhead continue to resonate with audiences even decades after the band’s formation, showcasing the timelessness of their music and the lasting impact of their legacy in the world of hard rock.
As fans eagerly await the release of The Manticore Tapes, they can reflect on the enduring influence and musical prowess of Motörhead, a band that has left an indelible mark on the rock music landscape. With this rare glimpse into the band’s early days, listeners can appreciate the raw talent and energy that propelled Motörhead to legendary status in the world of hard rock.
