The Swedish rock band, The Hives, recently announced the upcoming release of their seventh studio album, “The Hives Forever Forever The Hives,” set to be released on August 29, 2025, through Play It Again Sam. Following the success of their 2023 album, “The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons,” which garnered praise from several renowned music publications, The Hives have dropped the lead single, “Legalize Living,” accompanied by a music video directed by Filip Nilsson and Henry Moore Selder.
Recorded in Stockholm at YEAR0001’s and ABBA’s Riksmixningsverket studios, the new album was produced by the band’s long-time collaborator Pelle Gunnerfeldt. The recording sessions also featured contributions from Mike D of the Beastie Boys and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, with the band visiting Mike D’s studio in Malibu and collaborating with Josh Homme.
Consisting of Howlin’ Pelle, Chris Dangerous, The Johan And Only, Nicholaus Arson, and Vigilante Carlstroem, The Hives have been a prominent figure in the rock scene since the early 1990s. Known for their high-octane live performances and guitar-driven rock sound, The Hives have shared the stage with legendary acts such as The Rolling Stones and AC/DC. Their early 2000s releases, particularly “Veni Vidi Vicious” and hit single “Hate To Say I Told You So,” propelled them to widespread acclaim.
With their eclectic mix of influences and raw energy, The Hives have carved out a unique space in the music world. The upcoming album promises to be another testament to their creative prowess and dedication to pushing musical boundaries. Fans can stream the lead single, “Legalize Living,” and anticipate the band’s forthcoming tour dates in Australia, offering an opportunity to experience their electrifying live performances.
