Fergie drops a new video for her 2006 hit ‘London Bridge’
American pop star Fergie recently unveiled a new music video for her popular track ‘London Bridge’ in collaboration with the upcoming Netflix series Too Much.
Back in 2006, Fergie’s original video for the song caused a stir in pop culture when it was filmed on Tower Bridge instead of London Bridge. Lena Dunham, the creator of Too Much, expressed that “‘London Bridge’ was the perfect song to kick off the show,” which led to the decision to have Fergie recreate the music video.
The revamped video stars Fergie alongside Megan Stalter, the lead actor from Too Much, and this time, it was shot on the actual London Bridge. Fergie humorously remarked, “‘[What] isn’t ‘too much’ about filming a video for a song you already have a video for?” underscoring the playful nature of the collaboration.
Too Much is a romantic comedy following Jessica, portrayed by Megan Stalter, as she relocates from New York to London post-breakup. While in London, Jessica crosses paths with Felix as she navigates the complexities of love in a new city.
Reflecting on her involvement in the project, Fergie shared, “As an American girl who once had her own adventures in London while filming the video for ‘London Bridge,’ I instantly felt a connection to this project.” She added, “Being that the series was … about an American girl navigating her own London experience – my creative soul couldn’t say no,” highlighting her personal connection to the narrative.
The collaboration between Fergie and the creators of Too Much adds an exciting layer to the promotional efforts for the series, blending nostalgia with a fresh take on the hit song ‘London Bridge.’ The video not only pays homage to Fergie’s original work but also aligns with the themes and setting of the upcoming show, enhancing the overall viewing experience for fans.
With its quirky storyline and charming characters, Too Much promises to deliver an entertaining and heartwarming exploration of love and self-discovery in a new environment. Fergie’s contribution to the project further elevates the series, offering viewers a unique perspective on the intersection of music, art, and storytelling in popular culture.
